Wolfpack of Two.

Both Thomas and I were able to work on The Lamsion today. We made great progress. But before we started our day, we took a tour of the Tong's residence, and boy was it off the hook [they did their own lighting  and flooring]. Words cannot describe it, let me just tell you that Peter is going to be spending a lot of time at The Lamsion [helping me do stuff cause he is a G], he just does not know yet. Went to Lowe's twice [forgot our 10% off coupon, get at me for details on this], ordered our new windows [coming in May 5], bought a new push broom [holla!], got myself a respirator for this week's upcoming renovations.Club Lamsion [the bonus room that we previously nicknamed] no longer has a floor! We removed the carpet, carpet padding and scrubbed off a good amount of the glue. We are 90% of the way there to a new floor [thinking bout some epoxy to make the club look industrial, will post examples soon].

Here are some pics of the before, after coming soon:

Yep, we make sparks fly. Had to hit up Mr. Tang for the hook up.

Heading up to Tahoe in 6 hours, won't be able to make any progress tomorrow, but this week is so packed with new additions.

Things that are on the plate for next week:

Recessed Lighting
Sliding Door Install
Copper Pipes
Start Texturing
...and more!

"Yo I Ain't Fcking With That Refund"

We will get to that quote in the title at the end of the blog, when I decide to tangent. Today was a pretty exciting day. Today commences the first day that a paid contractor started work. Without further ado:

It might look nasty and tore up, but guess what? We got copper piping mother bitches! Well, its done in the garage and the lead pipe in so far, should be done mid-week.

Almost done with all of the bedrooms and the ceiling project, will finish up tomorrow and post before/after photos. We spent a good 150 minutes at Lowe's asking hundreds of questions, I feel pretty smart now.

After Lowe's we got our yum on at McD's since it was fast and we could make it home for the end of the Sharks. There was just two other patrons in the restaurant with us. They order their food and then we hear this:

Customer: Yo, this be cold, heat it up.
Customer: Make sure you heat that shit up!
Customer: Heat it up aight?
Employee: Ok [heating] Here you go.
Customer: Yo let me get some of that Buffalo sauce.
Employee: It will be 25 cents, sir.
Customer: What? Let me get some of that Buffalo sauce.
Employee: Sorry sir, your purchase does not include sauce. It will be 25 cents.
Customer: Yo? What do you mean? Let me get that sauce.
Employee: Sorry.
Customer: This is bullshit, let me get my money back,
Customer: Yo, give me my money back!
Customer: Yo, I ain't fcking around with that refund.

This is no joke, ask Tum. We had no idea what was going on, should we just donate .25 so he can get his Buffalo sauce? Or just sit there and watch him get 1.xx back?

Made my day, free lunch to guess the ethnicity of the customer.

Big day tomorrow [technically today]. We are going to tour the Tong's [Peter/Jackie] and try to get the inside scoop and some free paint, holla. Then we got to get Club Lamsion ready for a heavyweight bout between Frank the Tank and his nemesis, Dang.

Goodnight.

Ps. Don't be shaving that playoff beard now.

Shopping Day...

So, we've all been there. We got shit to do, not vital, but needs to be done. But your friend [J in this case] texts you and says they are grabbing lunch at a place you want to go to but are too lazy to drive to [El Tulense, which is coined the "mothership" of all taco trucks in the valley of the taco. Analogy: Licking a glacier vs. buying a bottle of water. This place is so legit it only has 2 Yelp reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/tacos-el-tulense-redwood-city. I also got to meet the tacos4life.com team, shout out/plug.]. You sit there and ponder, you know the right call [eat at home to save money and calories and do work], but what do we all end up doing? We justify the wrong choice, I told myself, if J takes me to Lowe's and I make all the necessary purchases [I want to test my Amazon widget: Chamberlain WD822KD Whisper Drive 1/2-HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener] the money I spend on lunch kind of is discounted as I get to eat in Redwood City and not spend any energy getting there [I get to sit top down in the black demon and talk shit, not a bad deal]. So that is what happened, and this is what ended up in my toilet 20 minutes ago:

2 Al Pastor, 2 Carnitas & 1 Lengua Taco [which the tortilla is grilled first, just like how real Mexican mom's do it],and one lonely Pollo Sope.

Back to the real story. So after stopping at Sprinkles [yeah gay shit, I know] and then Yogurt Twist [sorry Fong & Christina frozos.com] it was about 3:30, I dropped off the stuff at The Lamsion and knew that if I was to "do work" I would pass out and not be able to make it to basketball at 7, so I decide to forgo any ceiling scraping today and just go back to Hemmingway Gardens and take a nap, cause I had to get my Durant on. So today was a Shopping Day, but before I publish this, here are some archived photos I have on some other stuff we worked on last week:

Back story: The Lamsion is a 4 bedroom & 2 bathroom dwelling, but the people who lived there before built  a 2 room add on. We decided that we did not need 2 more rooms, a couple of reasons, but mainly cause we don't have that many friends and any slaves we do want to keep will have to work under ground level. I've read that if you deprive a human being of light, they will do anything you ask...read being the key word. So we are turning those 2 rooms into Club Lamsion [aka the Man Cave, aka everything I've wanted that my mom did not let me buy cause it wasted space but now I can buy room], just a fyi, Thomas has stressed that this is Club Lamsion and not Lounge Lamsion, so when music is playing get off yo ass and start dancing.

Here are some pics from the "demolition" by the Demo Duo:

Left "room" before.

Right "room" sheet rock off.

Both sides no longer have sheet rock, only beams left.

Club Lamsion is now "open" for business.

This weekend [or tomorrow, depending on how much Manuel [sic] Labor I want to do] we will be removing the "carpet" and the yellow stuff so we can see the bare concrete and get ready to floor that bad boy. Don't worry ladies, it will be very heel friendly. So please, feel free to bring those stilettos to The Lamsion.

Sneak peak [little math quiz and imagination exercise for you guys]:

- Screen -  Left Window - Door +
= Boss.
[Thanks to Kirch from Saratoga/Craigslist]

Ps. I update everyday, so get me on the RSS tip. Goodnight.

Ceiling: What Were They Thinking?

...back in 1970 [when our house was built].

Our ceiling, is that acoustic stuff, the stuff that flakes when you brush it on accident, the stuff that crumbles when you bounce a tennis ball off of it, the stuff that you cannot paint...seriously.

So I called around on Craigslist and had a couple of guys come take a look at it. Most of the people want about $1500 to remove it and then re-texture and paint it. I then asked how much just to texture, around $500. I figure that removing it and painting it cannot cost $1000 in man hours [at least at my rate of McDonald's Cashier], so I google'd some stuff and watched a ton of YouTube videos and here we are.

Went to Home Depot [Lowe's > by the way, but I was at the mall.], got a spray bottle [do not get this .96 piece of shit, get the 8.64 pesticide sprayer, I swear. I am buying it tomorrow morning cause this one sucks], got a ceiling scraper. $20 dollars later I am off to The Lamsion.

Here is what you need to remove Popcorn Ceiling [other than fcking arms/shoulders of steel]:

Here is a pic of before:

Literally, 1 hour later this is the progress, fml:

I will continue this slavery again tomorrow, hopefully with a full day I can get all 4 bedrooms done. I actaully am considering picking up an "amigo" at Home Depot tomorrow, don't tell my brother. Good night.

The Lamsion...

Short post. The Lamsion, it is a play on the word "mansion" and our [me and my brother, tumas] last name. We purchased a fixer upper and will document each renovation here and hopefully make it to HGTV one day.

Enjoy the photos and progress.

I know the drill, post is no good without a picture:
